
Here's some things I did in 2025 in order:

- Stopped playing league of legends so I can stop wasting my life and stop destroying my sleep and work on things that I find interesting and love and maybe build a product and launch it. ( sleep is still destroyed ). 
- Worked on the interesting thing, which is building a humanoid robot...
  - Which I've been wanting to do for a long time now. Made good progress while I was working on it, but had to pause it to build a product instead.

- Tried to build a product ( Floey ) with Umar. It's... been hard... and I'm a fuckin idiot. Because I do this every single time... I take on too much stuff at once thinking I can handle it. But I couldn't. again... and just had a chat with Umar yesterday where I basically said to him that I can't continue working on it. Because of 3DBerg. which brings us to...
- 3DBerg. 
- Also... germany maybe? 
- completed bachelors...
- fuck... its a long list... feeling much better than 2024 where the whole list was: "Wasted year working at CodeNinja" and I felt sooo bad about that, that I quit CodeNinja and started working at AvantTech... which... I guess worked. to some extent... but now not super happy with AvantTech either after learning how much money my peers make... but I digress... I need to actually finish writing this shit.



2025 Retrospective


I'm calling it... kinematics or inverse kinematics is not the way... that's not how us humans "think" about movement. we don't really "think" about movement at all, maybe about very complex movement we think first... e.g. when you're walking something like a rocky terrain maybe. or if there are random pieces of shits ( e.g. horse shit ) in your way... you will probably look at the road once, and have an idea of where not to go to avoid shits. 

when you walk or run... you're not exactly mapping out where you're going to step exactly, you're not "planning" it... how it works is that you essentialy just pick your leg up, and then fall forwards... and use your other leg to catch yourself...

wtf am I writing... I'm just writing shit out of my ass... this makes no sense... I don't have any idea of how inverse kinematics actually works, for all I know... this could be how it actually works... fuck. I'm just going to stop and delete this. 


UPDATE 27-12-2025:
well... I was watching a lecture on youtube and apparently... This is a pretty popular and one of the most obvious ideas in robotics in the last decade, and this stuff is called "Dynamic" movement, or "underactuated robotics"... There is an MIT course for underactuated robotics available on OCW ( Thank you for OCW btw )... so I'm going to be taking that course https://underactuated.csail.mit.edu/

Yesterday I learned from my client ( person I work with daily ) that my employeer ( not the person I work with daily ) said no to having 1 month off-time to take a break at the end of the year... I was like eh, ok. and shrugged it off...

Shortly after I got a call from my employeer who told me the same thing, the way she said it was: "John wanted us to not work for a month and wasn't going to pay us, and I told him to fuck off, how dare he even suggest this... this makes no sense. thats not how businesses work."

I said, "eh... ok". and shrugged it off. but a few seconds later I also said... "I wouldn't mind taking a break though...", and after a few seconds of silence, my employer just repeated her previous sentence, and I said "eh... ok" and shrugged it off and went back to work...

and now today as I am working, instead of writing code, I have been sitting here thinking about how fucking exhausted I am and how I have not taken a single fucking day off the entire year.
And the only one single time I had asked for a leave of two days to go to an annual CTF event in Islamabad ( which is a thing I go to, every year with one of my best friends )... It got denied with "its a short notice". ( to which, btw. at that time I also said, "eh... ok, I guess it was a short notice ( it was )" and shrugged it off ).

but anyway... coming back to what this post was about... why do I only realise this shit the next day, or two days later? why do I always just say "eh... ok" at the time the thing is happening instead of thinking about it at that moment ( I cant... idk why. I'm always blank ) and responding appropriately. I don't know... should probably google it...

[rant] - wtf... why do I feel more deeply about a big thing two days after its over... wtf. wtf. wtf.


I have mixed feelings about this. I want to think more before I write more about this topic, but the summary probably will be that it pisses me off whenever I hear about someone's success ( success in building and running startups ) and then, when I learn more about them, and there's things in their life that they were able to achieve or do because their parents were rich which lead to their success... even if in most cases it is just the fact that they have a safety net in form of their parents, and if they fail they can rely on them.

I do know that my view is flawed and rich parents does not automatically mean success, there's almost always a lot of effort done by the person themselves as well... right? 

A lot of people with rich parents are just dumb too and waste their parents money on stupid shit. but you dont hear about them as often...

But idk... I can't help it... is it jealousy?
it doesn't seem fair to reduce anyone's efforts to: "Oh, ofcourse they did... they had rich parents who sent them to stanford or harvard". right? 

why I am in doubt? I guess I need to read more about this and establish my position on it... will I always just go around hating successful people with rich parents, or will that change? maybe it will change when I myself become a rich parent. but I don't want to wait that long...

I don't hate my parents... I think they did the best they could with what they had.

Khadda is an app that has a list of every single khadda and broken roads on the roads of Lahore, you can use this app to avoid roads that have a lot of Khaddas, how this app works is that we have a database of potholes and cracks in the roads of Lahore, and we just put them on top of a map... pretty simple. 

The app is free to use as long as you connect it to a camera of your vehicle and gps, these are the two main requirements... the camera can be the dashcam of your car, the front cam ( idk what they're called ), a video from a phone, or dashcam from your helmet, or literally anything that has the road and the gps position, we'll make the rest of it work with our technology magic. 

This will allow us to ensure an uptodate database of every plothole in Lahore.


Update [07-dec-2025]:

- Did some basic research on this... and apparently this is called "Crowd sensing".

- there's also public datasets available for pictures with potholes, which should be helpful in the backend part of the project to tag potholes with locations...

This is based on no data at all... dont read this. its only based on my experience with the previous two companies I worked at. CodeNinja and AvantTech... I'm only saying names here because this is a private draft... TODO: before publishing remove names... or maybe not. idk.

Companies in Pakistan are doing this (new?) weird thing that they're calling "Staff Augmentation". I guess its not really new is it...

The idea is that the "Company", finds talent and hires them and prepares a "profile" for them which...

eh... not going to finish this post, because I think I don't have enough knowledge on what the client-company contract looks like right now... I'll come back to this after I meet someone from the other side and ask them about this process..

But anyway, I was going to write something like: 

It makes no sense for the actual talent to have an Employer as a middleman at all, especially not in the way that people are currently doing by being enrolled on a payroll... because the employer is not involved in day-to-day operations or development at all... they are not providing a "Service" to the actual client... nor are they providing any service to the Talent. so... why do they get a big percentage ( need citation on that... like I said, I dont have research data about this yet ) of the money? maybe it would make sense if this was a one time payment... or the Employer was doing more... but if not... why do the Talent not just directly connect with the actual client? maybe it would make sense if the fees was lower ( again... no data yet ), like 10% or 15% like what Upwork charges... actually now that I write it... this sounds a lot like just upwork but with a lot more markup for the upwork-replacement-company.


anyhow... it doesn't make sense for me. my employer makes 2-3x more ( based on rumors data and research ), and all they did is just "refer" me to their client and they are not involved at all in my daily work... but somehow they are getting all the money. its absurd... I'm going to quit. makes no sense. anyway...

Move to germany.
- Q1 (Jan): Decide how... masters or work?

I can't plan this further than this without knowing the dates of universities and the timelines for gathering requirements... it will all depend on (1), my final transcript ( which I haven't received yet as of writing ), my degree, and getting everything attested from HEC... getting IELTs,  ( I haven't been planning to learn german before landing there, atleast so far...  But I think I will change my mind... Everyone has said so far that it does give you more chances to get there for e.g. uni admission, or visa ). yeah, I've changed my mind... do the required German level as well.

So... I was just taking a shit and this thought occurred to me where in my head, I'm an investor and I'm trying to judge whether I should invest in a company...
This company was a startup trying to revolutionize and monopolize automobile workshops and mechanics in Pakistan by focusing on providing quality services for everyone... not just the people with a fortuner.

anyhow... my main question to the startup was: "Why do you need the money?"

I want to know why you think you need extra money other than what you already have in order to build your business successfuly... whats the bottleneck right now?

Getting VC money is a shiny cool thing nowadays, everybody wants funding. And I think, for some people ( probably mostly beginners, like me ) raising funding becomes the goal they're trying to achieve instead of the goal being building a great product, and in order to achieve that goal, they try to focus on building shiny demos and cool pitch decks instead of focusing on building the product itself.

But am I saying building shiny demos and cool pitch decks isn't important? hmm... it probably is very important when you actually need to raise money. But imo, you should know exactly why you need funding first. and be able to say: "I need X money for Y, and x amount of money for this..."

How do you know when you need to focus on building the product vs focus on raising money? I dont know. I dont have answers...

Rambling:
I'm also on the other side of this problem right now where I'm building Floey with my co-founder Umar, and we're trying to build the product just enough to showcase it to some people and "validate" the idea to figure out whether anyone would even actually pay for this before going full-time and putting more effort in to work on the product...
but in order to validate it, we need to show them a shiny demo and a cool pitch deck... 

Building a great product requires time. Maybe more time than I am willing to spend on Floey? Why am I not willing to spend time on Floey before having assurances of VC funding? I dont know.
It may be because I'm scared that the idea isn't "tangible?" enough or worth enough to spend too much time on if I dont make money off of it? I don't care deeply about the idea of building an AI sales agent personally? maybe its just as simple as the risk of not having a stable income? the most common risk/reward problem?
The fear that if I focus and spend more time on working on floey, and quit my job and it doesn't work out... I'm fucked? But I feel like thats going to be such a common problem that everyone faces that there must be solutions to this... I need to research and read what other people do when facing this dillema... do they "take risk" and quit their jobs to work fulltime on the product even though they know its a bubble and they have limited time to make it work... or do they go the safer way, keep their current jobs, and work on building the product as a side-hustle part-time working on it... and slowly build the product? I need data on this... like, how many people have done this that they work part-time on a new product while keeping their day jobs and only quit jobs once they're successful... as I'm writing this, it seems very obvious that this is the way. But would be cool to have more data on this... unfortunately, I should probably get back to work and not research about this right now.
